I am writing in support of the proposed whitewater course. I am a dedicated whitewater paddler and currently drive great distances in search of good paddling spots. At present, this means that my friends and I drive to Wisconsin and Minnesota among other places. So we certainly would travel even more frequently to a spot in Iowa. When we travel, we spend money on services, hotels and food. Many areas such as the Tallulah Gorge area in north Georgia have experienced economic revivals due to increased tourism and spending when they opened up the region for canoers and kayakers. I hope you will support this project. It looks a win-win situation to me. I can promise that you would have a solid core coming frequently from Ames."
