Olton's Shoulder
This is a fun climb with a long rappel. The helicopters aim directly for this rock as they come around Mt. Rushmore (behind Kyle) bank sharply to their right, do the same with Old Baldy and then return for another group of sight-see'ers.

One can get a spectacular view of the area from the top of Olton's Shoulder (which can aid in route finding). This is a FULL 2 rope rappel. Helmets are well advised as there is plenty of loose material, especially the rappel. Pat narrowly missed taking a large rock going terminal velocity upside his head...and he wasn't even climbing. Rope pulling is easier if the last person works the knot down over the edge and you use 200' ropes. This is definately one area that will eat your ropes.
